Parent and Student Volunteers Needed

We are fortunate to be hosting ISSMA Organizational Contest at Brownsburg High School, rather than traveling to the east side of Indianapolis with each band throughout the afternoon and evening on April 25.  That said, to successfully hold this event at Brownsburg, we will need some volunteers.

The volunteers will be needed for these jobs:

• A volunteer to read each band’s program information before their performance
• 3-5 volunteers in the sight-reading room to handout music, assist the judge, etc.
• 4 guides for the Avon bands who will also be performing at Brownsburg that night.
• A group of 8-10 students on stage who will reset the stage for each performance.
• A warmup timer in the warmup room to notify directors of how much time remains in their warmup.
• A small group of tabulators.

If you plan to stay after school until your performance:
Bring your concert clothing to school! We will have a “rack” in the band area that you can use to store your attire until the event, rather than wearing it all day. If you want to store it on a rack, please make sure it is labeled with your name!

Food – We are not planning to feed students a meal as a part of the night. If you would like to bring a light snack to eat after school, students will need to have plenty of energy for their performance that night. Plan ahead!

Band Schedules/Timeline:

Freshman White Band
*Freshman White Band will stay after school on April 25.
3:00 – Meet in the Brownsburg High School Band Room
– Quick Snack
– Change into concert blacks
– Make sure all equipment/instruments are in the correct location
4:00 – Meet in the Big Room
4:20 – Transit to Warm Up
4:25 – Warm Up
5:00 – Performance

• Following Performance
  • Quietly put instruments away in lockers
  • Dismiss or assist as a volunteer

Concert Band
4:45 – Arrive at Brownsburg High School in concert blacks
5:00 – In the Big Room
5:20 – Transit to Warm Up
5:25 – Warm Up
6:00 – Performance
6:35 – Sight Read

  • Quietly put instruments away in lockers
  • Dismiss

Freshman Purple Band
6:15 – Arrive at Brownsburg High School in concert blacks
6:30 – In the Big Room
6:50 – Transit to Warm Up
6:55 – Warm Up
7:30 – Performance
8:05 – Sight Reading
