Due to current conditions ISSMA has decided that 2021 Solo & Ensemble event will be a virtual event. In an effort to provide the truest performance opportunity for Brownsburg students, the directors have created a live performance opportunity for BCSC students. Below you will find information on both ISSMA Virtual event and BCSC live event. BCSC students that have performed or will perform in ISSMA Group I (BHS students only) may, in conjunction with BCSC live performance, participate in the ISSMA Virtual performance. If a group I event receives a gold rating for the ISSMA virtual event, students will receive a gold rating for the state level.
Also, this year, BCSC will be offering an honors recital with scholarship money possible. At the BCSC live performance, each room will select the top soloist. Each top soloist will perform a week later at the BCSC Honors Recital. Each event will be evaluated by a panel of professionals. From this event a top soloist will be selected from (1) band and (1) orchestra. If the soloist winner selected is an under classmen, they will receive a summer music camp scholarship. If the soloist winner selected is a senior, they will receive a college scholarship to be used at their discretion. Please see below for each event’s details. If you have any questions please see a director at your child’s school.
This is a great opportunity for the students to explore solo and small ensemble experiences. The students will have written comments from trained professionals on their performance and how to improve as a performer. It is a positive musical experience for those who participate. All we ask is that the students put forth their best effort. Ensemble members must realize that extra rehearsals on their own time and with a private teacher must take place for them to be successf.
Please see the document below for information regarding solo and ensemble.
